Hi all,
I was hoping to get some advice about possible medications other than antidepressants (pretty sure I've tried them all) or beta-blockers for social anxiety as unfortunately, they haven't worked for me. The only medication that has brought some relief to my anxiety is Valium, but my GP was only happy with prescribing me 7 days worth, and won't prescribe it again because of the addiction risk. Because Valium helped, I think it makes sense that I probably need a medication that is a sedative.
I may consider therapy again in future, but right now, I need some suitable medication to at least take the edge off my anxiety so I can start to have more positive social experiences and build up from there.
I should probably mention I'm from the UK (I know the available of medications varies from country to country).

I haven't tried Buspar or Ativan. I suspect my GP will be reluctant to prescribe anything addictive, so I might have more chance with the Buspar, but I will add both to my list.
Can I ask if your GP prescribed you the Buspar or was it a psychiatrist?
