Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
Sleepy, I have some similar issues - anxiety, IBS, lump in throat caused by anxiety. I had seen doctors all over the place trying to get treated.
Finally, I was tested for the MTHFR gene mutation which is very common. They also tested my folate and B12 which are not normally checked in a CBC. Turns out I have the mutation and my folate was low.
Folate is essential to the proper functioning of your cells - especially neurological cells. It is so vital, in fact, that anything enriched or fortified has folic acid in it. But if you have the gene mutation, you can't convert folic acid into usable folate.
If you have the mutation, the treatment is simple. Stay away from folic acid and take methalyzed folate.
Since I started on the folate, I have not had even one bout of IBS and haven't had any anxiety (apart from the habit of worry which I'm working on). It's been a miracle for me.
The test has been around for 20 years but it's only now becoming a commonly known issue. Many doctors have never heard of it but valid medical studies have been done - primarily related to treating serious mental illness with folate in MTHFR gene mutation patients.

My lump has gone away now, it's very sporadic. I was starting to get a slight bruise on my neck from constantly touching and pushing on the lump. I hope it doesn't come back again. I hopped on the treadmill hoping to walk off my anxiety and my resting heart rate was 122 before I even started walking on the treatmill. It's down to 105 now and the lump is gone.
The IBS and anxiety only really act up when my Meniere's acts up, and I'm trying some new stuff for the Meniere's so hopefully it will help it all.
One symptom of the gene mutation is miscarriage but treating it with the folate (and avoiding folic acid) can solve the problem.
But it's important to know if you have the mutation or not so you know which sort of folate to take.
