Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

I struggle with anixity all the time with anything. My main support system has been my mother for so long. She’s really great and I’m not here to talk bad about her or sound ungrateful because I know some people don’t have anyone to talk to and I’m lucky to have her, but sometimes she says stuff that I try not let show she’s hurt my feelings.
I’m 24 and she always jokes around saying my genaration is so sensitive, that we make everything a big deal when we really need to suck it up. Back when she was a child they didn’t talk about anixity and depression they went to school and work without showing their weakness. So in turn, we need to stop being babies and get on with it. Now I know she’s not talkin about me, but it gets me thinking, do I just need to pull up my big girl panties and move on with life? Recently, I’ve been playing around with the idea of therapy part of me wants to go, but then there’s the other part that doesn’t want it. I know my mom would be behind me 100% if I decided I needed therapy, but again she says stuff like I can move on without going to therapy...are my problems so small I don’t need it and I’m just being over dramatic?
I have a cousin who’s in therapy and she loves it, but my mom always makes side comments about it when she’s not around. I know she’s joking for the most part, but is part of her being serious?
I feel like I’m sounding ungrateful. I love her, but I’m so damn confused about everything it gives me anixity just thinking about to sometimes. Maybe I am just being too sensitive.

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.
Anyway, I would really encourage you to give it a try, it may be useful and help improve your anxiety <3
Best wishes, and thanks for your comment on my post. It always helps to hear I'm not alone.
Keep sorting, HML. Not even the bestest of scripted and directed TV mothers is perfect. It's okay to see her as human, warts and all.
Continued support while you sort.
If you choose to do therapy, you're doing it for your well-being. If you choose to not share it with your mother, then that is your choice. If you choose to share it with your mother, then you are aware that she can and probably will make those kinds of comments about your therapy outside of your hearing. It is your choice. Once you make the choice, then the opportunity to change how your mom sees your response comes in how you change it when you hear her make those comments.
The first step is important, and you have done that with writing it out.
I made the decision not to share my therapy until it came out in general conversation. I then said it was a requirement and that changed how they responded. As time went on, I was able to work on my responses and learn to change them early in general conversation so the thought pattern changed for me.
The hardest step is the first one.
Knowing that people do not understand, and knowing that you're reaching for help with people who are willing to listen and work with you to find help in processing your feelings makes it easier to be strong for your self.
Best wishes!
