Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

it doesn't feel like i've gotten far in breaking the current paralysis. our domestic upheavals have stabilized far enough that time and opportunity are becoming available for pursuing my own interests. well. . . they haven't stabilized far enough that i can get back to the river research that was my life focus in october, 2018 when my 3 gk's were seized into protective custody, but with all three kids in school all day i now have predictable blocks of time which i could/should be using for things like building my live therapy support network, planting gardens, working livestock, etc., etc. i continue sitting and staring into space, no matter how often i whip myself to just do it or just trust or. . . or. . . just just it all.
again, i'm not sure what i am reaching for here, but the ponderance has a distinct soundtrack. a blast from so far in the past that cher still has an authentic patch or two in this video.

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.
What we used to to is the past, this is the now. We look back with such longing that we stay stuck and don’t appreciate the now. Begin to appreciate the now and look forward not backwards.
And, everyone needs mental and physical rest. You have a new job in life now. The kids. Your focus has to shift from looking back to looking forward. That was then, this is now.
Find a hobby that doesn’t keep you mentally churned up. Find some small thing you can do that soothes your soul. Maybe small patch gardening or reading fiction or knitting or baking.
You are unhappy because you want to return to old goals. The old goals are now happy memories. Accept and adapt as MLRO says.
Find a new calming hobby you can do. Make your goals attainable. Seems like the farm stuff is only making you frustrated and unhappy. Don’t blame, just make baby steps to some goal or hobby that is soothing not frustrating.
What happens when your life switches paths in a sudden and abrupt way is overwhelming, in unexpected situations, the feelings of '...' surface. All the steps taken, to preserve sense of calm in the best manner of known information in the moment, may seem lacking later.
Expressing those feelings safely and in a group, provides perspective from different views. and allowing input from others provides a way to figure out what brings peace of mind.
thank you, hasty. i'm pretty sure i read this very advice while i was working my way through my first round of empty nest syndrome. we'll see if i live long enough to use it a second time. i'll be 84 when the current baby graduates from high school. god's will be done. for now, i'm following the chinese proverb. "make friends with change. it's the only thing you can count on."
amen, mid. with the upheavals and non-stop changes of the past 4 years, almost 5 years from the time the gk's were seized into protective custody, i just might be learning more from staring over the porch rail than the littles are learning at school. it's ALLOT to process. a safe place to express those feelings is, indeed, helpful.
