General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
I would exercise a couple hours before bed. (too soon before bed and you can get hyped up.) Walks, biking, etc.
Doctors also say things like reading are good because they are little, repetitive, and relaxing.
Hope this helps :)

I had no dryer sheets are going to buy some today, but I did have some tropical febreeze spray, so I sprayed some under and around my pillow and it seemed to really help me! I think I will also get some lavender air freshener spray so I can try that scent, sense that is supposed to be the best scent to help a person relax.
Just an idea. It didn't keep my nightmares at bay, but nothing does that, but it did help to put me to sleep.
My dad uses some pills that are OTC and gets those at walmart, just called something like help sleep or something really stupid like that and my dad and sister took them for years! They are very cheap too!
I take trazadone to aid with my sleep but I think I have been on it so long it isn't working great like it used to. It helps me stay asleep, but not GET to sleep. Hope some of this helps. I know walmart has alot of drug free things to help you sleep.
What about a shower right before bed. It doesn't help me, but my husband cannot go to sleep without a nice hot shower! Also like Krissy said, a good walk around the block helps too, releases all those good chemcials in our brains!
Good luck, keep us posted!
I know for me, I can't handle sleeping pills because I get nightmares. I can't do music because it keeps me up too. I will take a Xanax if I am panicky at night, but it's been a while . In the winter I do soak in the tub before bed and add lavender or peppermint oil and I drink chamomile tea that helps a lot. hope you can find something that helps.
At my walmart they come in 3 mg 5 mg and 8mg. I started off on the 3 and I like the 3mg, but last time I bought it they didn't have but the 5mg ones so I bought those.
It is just a vitamin, no drug at all! All natural! Helps me and my dad! The only complaint I have ever heard about it was from my husband and that was that it made him fall asleep too hard and he wants to hear if somebody breaks into our house!
If you take it, just make sure you take it no more than 15 mintues before you actually want to lay your head down, as when it kicks in with me, it kicks in hard and fast, which is what I like.
I have slacked off at taking them, I guess I just forgot they were right there with my regular meds! Think I will put them in my pill planner and start them tomorrow night. I have to get up early tomorrow, so woudl rather start them on a night where the next day I can get up when I want. I never wake up tired, but why take a chance when I have to drive about 80 miles tomorrow.
Good luck! Remember, they are at walmart with the vitamins and the bottle I get has 120 tablets in them and I think I paid $3.99 for mine. That almost 4 months worth of pills, just store in cool place in your house!
BIG HUGS....HEY "MOM" you are such a blessing to me! WE do alot of things alike, but sometimes you will remind my tiny little brain of something and I go....OH YEAAAAA, that does work!
