So, take your MP3 player with you with some meditation music or something you like to listen to. Remind yourself that it is only temporary and that it will all be over shortly. I ask for for gas, numbing gel, then the shots in that order. They will be happy to oblige. I never even feel the shots and they are experts at wiggling your cheek so that you don't feel it. There is no shame telling your dentist that being there makes you anxious and that you need a little time to adjust and relax. My dentist actually lets me unwind and breathe in my chair for 5 minutes before even taking my blood pressure (that is my big tell sign that I am having an anxiety attack). Also, ask for a chair with a TV so you can be distracted if you want to watch TV. I prefer my music. Some places even have their own headphones for you to wear.
