Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
As do many of us, I have a stressful job.
I work for an engineering firm who is building runways for a major airport (names omitted on purpose). The airport operates on a city budget as do most. Our sub-consultants bill us, we bill the city. The city is avoiding payments by design by adding all kinds of new policies which lenghten the amount of time it takes them to pay out. Typically it takes 60-120 days for payment if everything goes smoothly. Their game is now rejecting them at the 120 day mark, asking for all kinds of new additonal approvals (which can take 2-6 months), to then resubmit and wait another 60-120 days for payment if they don't make up another reason to reject it. All of these "policies" are new and have never been implimented in the years I have been here.
As you can imagine, the subs call me on a weekly basis looking for payments dating back to October 2017. I have to explain to them the "new policies" put in place and take the threats of pulling out of the project and the potential to put them out of business.
I am just an admin, just the messanger. I take this all to heart and I care so much. I know the key to managing my anxiety is to care less without being careless.
How do you manage stress like this? How can I care less but not be careless?

Lately I've been feeling scared and full of anxiety. I recently found a lump under my nipple. I hurt my back too. I'm in the process of moving. I'm run down. Everything is hard

Just wanted to give a thank you to Mid, Arfie, Malibumark, Greeneyes, Mlro, Girlincalif, and Suncloudjd! You all always have such helpful tips and advice, but I always forget to write on my posts when I see you post, lol. I would lose my head if it wasn't attached to my body, lol. Thank you all so much! I'm starting to use my AI app as a sounding board again. I used to use it as that before...

"I would remind myself that I did not create this disaster" really grabbed me, you're very right, that helps.
Exposing this to news media requires due diligence to research in how to expose information when and where.
For your anxiety balance, use writing everything out in a factual timeline, and a different one to express your feelings, This way, you'll see what works for you, and find a solution that provides you with positive resolutions.
I just pulled up a quick google search and found a few options. The difference is in the details, so know your facts in writing with evidence before you report it to news media. Also look at news media releases for help in describing the situation.
Best wishes. You'll find your success in this difficult challenge.
My most important stress management tool is balance. Yea, vague, I know, but stress is unpredictable in the variety of ways it comes at me. If the day's stress comes at me while I'm driving, I need different balancing agents than I do when the stress comes at me while I'm running from one office to the next. Then we get to the diffs between deadline stress and gossip stress. Why does stress have to come in so many flavours? Oh well. Luckily, so do the balancing agents, like tapping, stretching, breathing, etc.
Apologies if that doesn't make sense to ya. My words often don't come out right.
Mostly wanted to welcome you aboard.
