General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. I earnestly believe that the uncounted dollars I have spent on my formal psychotherapy have been dollars well spent, but I also believe my pros could never have been as effective without a little help from the friends on my peer support network. Believe it or not, my pros even agree with with that assessment. Emphatically. The seem quite unanimous in the notion that it really does take a village to live a healthy life and an even bigger village to heal a broken life.
DS is far from the only building in my healing village, but it's a goodie. I hope it helps you, as well. Welcome aboard.
Your story very much relates to how I feel, too. Money is definitely something that stops me from going to therapy, even though I feel like I desperately need help. I rely heavily on my prescribed medication, but feel that therapy would also help me get back to like myself. I too, use to be a go getter. In person therapy sessions can be between $30-$80, depending on what services you need. Hope this helps.
Also, you should be proud of yourself for getting a new job. Going through the interview process, and adjusting the the job itself is hard, but you're doing it. Congrats.
Hang in there.
The good that I gathered from your post...
Life has not always been this way for you, you have tremendous insight, you are aware enough to realize you need support and sought us all here, have sought professional help, and you clearly know that the go-getter in you is still there!
I am going to venture to say that there is an underlying cause which is really what has to be addressed to control your response to it.
Yes therapy is very expensive with or without insurance BUT there are many options, there's always a way.
Online therapy (less expensive and they accept insurance).
Community mental health centers.
Supports in your church (if applicable).
EAP programs through your employer (if available).
Are any of these a viable option?
