Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

Night time is tough if our minds are overwhelmed. It can be difficult to find the 'off' switch to all the thoughts that bombard us at that time. Loneliness, IMO, seems to stem from our own sense of self-worth. For instance, I used to struggle with the same feelings. I used to cry myself to sleep some nights, at a pure loss as to why I was so unwanted and invisible. My situation hasn't changed much, until recently. What had changed was putting into practice gratitude. Before bed, I would go through a list (or at times a single thing) I was grateful for that day. Then I'd focus on how that one thing, a sunrise/sunset, a cute moment, a smile, a beautiful day...whatever it was that changed my perspective, if even for a moment. So I'd stretch that moment out and live in it. I'd live in it until mood changed. When my mood changed, my thoughts changed. I started seeking out those moments even when the world seemed to trample the life out of me. I'd focus on that one thing. The more I sought after that good thing, the more I found of it. Over time, moments multiplied into hours, hours days, days weeks, and so on. Over time, the good in a day began to outweigh the bad. Over time, the horrid times became more and more isolated, and I become more and more liberated. Suddenly, out of nowhere it seemed, I had learned what it was to be filled with joy. Not every day is great. But I have joy anyway, because the bad days always come to an end, and there's always a new day ahead. Nothing brings more joy than a fresh start. But it takes time to learn how to leave the past in yesterday. Know that you're not alone and that I'm praying you through the struggles you face.
Hello. I want you to know that you are not alone. Your post - those heartbroken words of confusion and despair - are the exact words that I have rolling around in my head sometimes. They are lies that we tell ourselves, though. Still, we believe them because we are experiencing a difficult moment of acute anxiety and/or depression. The "moment" may actually take hours or a day before we feel better, but we must fight it because it is an illusion. What is real is the panic state of mind that we can't easily control. Those of us who suffer from anxiety or depression disorders have to have more help than others who do not have these mental illnesses. Therapy and medication can help us to become more stable, easing our struggles. I believe that Faith is also something that we need to help us through our battles. We just have to accept that our minds or "our perspectives," as stated by PracticalGrit, work differently. YOU ARE NOT "GROSS!" You are just FEELING that way - you FEEL the pain from things going on in your life that hurt you, and you FEEL that you may be worthless and without hope, wanting to just give up, sometimes. Your FEELINGS have led you to believe these lies. You are not defined by the moments in your life that were and are traumatic experiences, even though it FEELS that way. There are ways to ease your FEELINGS of pain so that you can begin to FEEL DIFFERENTLY about yourself, so that you can begin to see that YOU have value and beauty and purpose. It's not easy for some of us, as I said, because our minds need extra help to rethink things. That's OKAY! You are not alone, and many of us FEEL that same misery that you are feeling, today. Please hang on, and let those moments pass, because the TRUTH is that tomorrow really is another day - one that doesn't have to be miserable or without moments of joy. Tomorrow YOU may FEEL very differently about yourself. Make a plan to seek out a way to enjoy some moments of joy for yourself - you might be the reason that someone else out there FEELS better about himself or herself just because you smiled and said, "Hello!" YOU are important and do have opportunities to redefine yourself so that you can eventually see that even though we can't change our personal history, we don't have to be held captive by our pain. I'll pray for you tonight and tomorrow!
