Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
Anyways, after my comfort zone got smaller and smaller and I didn't leave my house for about 3 months I finally gave in to medication. It was the best decision I ever made. Initially I tried an as needed med (benzo) and it was xanax-it helped but ended up needing more of it and more often and that scared me. It was finally decided in to go on an SSRI that changed my life. It was Prozac. I knew that they take time to start working 1-2 months usually so I promised I would give 1-3 months since my life really couldn't get any worse at that point. Well it did, the side effects from it were SO bad-my panic and anxiety got even worse, had horrible insomnia and nausea BUT, after about 3 weeks, that disappeared and I started slowly seeing benefits. It got better and better until I was about 90% recovered. I got my life back-I was my old self. I went months without suffering anxiety at all and mostly only suffered from it still driving.
I did so well that I started weaning myself off of it...I stopped last December 2016-slowly my life started unraveling again but didn't want to go back on a medication unless the panic became unmanageable again. Well, it is. I am almost totally relapsed to where I once was and it's terrifying. I re started my Prozac and feel defeated about it but at the same time feel like kicking myself in the ass for not going back to it quicker and allowing things to get this far. My life and sanity are worth more. Now I'm only hoping it works as well as it did for me the first time. I'm going through the same horrible side effects again.
Meds aren't for everyone, but for me, they saved my life. I hope they do again...
