This is who you are. It is a BIG part of who you are. You need somebody who will be there for you, to talk to you and support you through your hard times.
My husband has been with me through every anxiety problem I have ever had: panic attacks, thinking I was going to go crazy, thinking I might lose it and kill one of my kids, taking 2 hours to check every light in my house so it wouldn't cause a fire, depersonalizaton.....you name it....he has heard it all. He has never made me feel bad for it and he has always talked me through without sounding like he was annoyed or exasperated. That is what I need in my partner and I wouldn't settle for less and neither should you.
Just be yourself and go to her if you need help. I am sure she wants to be there for you. And if she doesn't, or if she gets fed up down the road, that should tell you something.
Happy Birthday, by the way! So lucky to be only 20 and your whole life ahead of you!
But I always find that when I do spend an evening with other people...even though I am shy...I always feel more "alive" and more connected to the world and I am in a great mood for a day or so.
So that is definitely something I need to work on.
Lilygirl . Intrusive thoughts suck so much. And i feel like if i tell em to her she might go running for the hills lol. But i am taking your advice to desensitizing myself from them and it is working. They come and go and they are sometimes overwhelming. But with your advice, they are getting less powerful. I owe you big time.
Shemp: i know what you mean. People on ds have helped me so much. And it is comforting to know people on here have gong through the same and overcame this feeling. And To be honest my mom is going through the same thing. Her husband is very unsupporting. So she's going to therapy. She just started and she feels good about it. God always helps. Keep the faith alive!
Upzanddownz: man you are so right. I have to react out to others too. Not just my girlfriend. However, i have a HUGE fear of psychiatrists. I feel like the fact that im even gong there means im crazy. lol and i've been with my girlfriend for 4 years now, so the over exposing has already happened. But thanks for the advice man.
