Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
Sometimes I feel like I am losing my grip on my sanity in all this COVID mess. My moods alternate between anger and depression, but mostly I'm angry all the time. I hate the feeling that my home has become my prison. I hate that I can't go OUT and do the things I want to do. I miss going to the gym, going to the thrift stores and garage sales, the public library, and the the other things I enjoy--all of which are done outside the house. It isn't that there isn't plenty to do at home but all of it is work, and I'm sick of doing nothing but work. No fun, nothing to do that I actually enjoy or want to do. I also have a remitting/relapsing condition for which stress is a major trigger so I am dealing with that as well. My husband and I have been at each other's throats even though we normally get along very well. He isn't supportive of my feelings. I am either not sleeping or sleeping too much--and having nightmares when I do sleep. I am having a problem eating because my stomach is in knots. I have lost weight from an already-thin body. When I go out to get food, I feel like I am risking my life to do it.
I am sick and tired of people spewing useless advice and platitudes at me if I dare express my feelings.
"Stay busy" I'm plenty busy but none of it is anything I enjoy or want to do.
"Go for a walk" I don't enjoy walking and doing something I don't enjoy isn't going to make me feel better.
"Don't think about it" I'm avoiding the news as much as possible but this situation is all around all of us. How can I not think about it? Can't ignore the proverbial elephant in the room.
"You could be a lot worse off" or alternately, "others are worse off than you" True, but that doesn't improve MY situation or make it better.
"Journal" No. Just no.
I could go on and on. If I offer any advice or sugesstions, I phrase it in the first person "this is helpful to me" or "perhaps you could try..." rather than you SHOULD do this or that. I even had someone tell me to look at the "positives" of being imprisoned in my home. THERE ARE NO POSITIVES! Same person tried to tell to me I can "choose" how I feel. Ugh. People's feelings are what they are, and there is no "right" or "wrong" way to feel.
All I really want is for my feelings to be listened to and acknowleged without anyone trying to "fix" them, because they are what they and can't be "fixed".

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

Speaking of which, I have zero experience with the masked madness sweeping the globe. The microbe still doesn't scare me. Those masked phantoms scare the unholies out of me and traumatize my three orphans when I take them off the farm. Figuring ^it^ out with you.
Healing hopes for all. No exceptions.
Peace and good health to everyone.
I have this to share. In being kind to myself and keeping my well-being first, I choose my words and actions to help me, no matter what the work is.
