Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

Hello,
Yesterday, after a major anxiety episode, I decided to seek a therapist and an online support group. I know I need help and I want to improve my mental health.
I have been unemployed for a year and I am searching for a new job but it has made me feel very anxious and stressed out. I am afraid of experiencing again harrasment, stress and difficult situations, and even if I miss being financially independent and being around people, I somehow feel safer at home, even if this situation is not the best for me.
I have been suffering from PTSD, anxiety and depression for many years, with ups and downs and I want to get help before going too down into negative feelings. I would love to use this forum to help me express myself and talk about what's going on.
I have also been searching for a weekly audio support group (Skype with audio only) where people could share about their anxiety, ptsd, depression, but I haven't found any. Let me know if you know any or if you would like to create one with me.
Thank you for reading it!

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.
You are doing the right thing by taking this step, but you must be patient and stick with it.
For me, every day is still a bit of a struggle, but I have learned to take it day by day. Learning to meditate and focus on my breathing helps with the anxiety a lot. Maybe you should try some guided meditation- you can find plenty on YouTube.
Having friends and family is also very important. Do you have a close support system that you can turn to?
Wishing you the best!
I really appreciate the time you took the read and reply to me. I'm sorry to hear that you're going through a rough time.
I haven't been that proactive before, it's been 10-15 years so I think I am really overdue to finally get a therapist and work on the things I haven't able to heal yet.
I am glad that you were able to find a therapist that fits you and that they've changed your life. You did it and you're doing it. You can be proud of yourself!
I like your advice on "being patient and sticking with it". I'll keep that in the back of my mind.
I have done yoga in the past and I recently started guided meditation, mostly to remove PTSD before falling asleep. It has been immensely helpful. I know that exercise always give me a boost of confidence, so I need to make it a routine.
I have one friend online and I would like to make more friends. I have a wonderful wife and she has almost been supportive. I want for us to have a more balanced and healthy relationship, and for that I need to improve my mental health. Working on it!
I hope that you have support and positive people around you as well.
I wish you the best!
I got mean with the first umpteen people who told me *ALL* humans need help. The healthiest humans are okay with getting help. I sure am glad I got over that hump and am eternally grateful to the compassionate souls who had the courage to brave my Lone Wolf antics to tell me that. I'm still learning how to accept and trust help, but. . . Small steps make the surest journey. All great works of art are works in progress. Even the masterpieces whose masters have been dead for centuries still need maintenance and restoration from time to time.
Welcome aboard. Hope you find stabilizing companionship here.
First of all, I like your avatar photo, it reminds me of my dog!
I agree with you, "small steps make the surest journey, all great works of art are works in progress". I try to include at list 2-3 items on my self-care list every day, and give myself enough to do to feel productive and proud of myself, but not too much to feel overwhelmed or stressed out.
Thank you for your warm welcome!
You've taken the important first step in writing out the information.
Best wishes finding what works for you now.
