Has anyone ever heard that if a woman got a hysterectomy it would then stop hormones which cause panic and anxiety?

No, never heard that one? Where did you hear this? My therapist told me that I can take birth control pills to help regulate my hormones so that I won't get PMS. That's the only thing I have ever heard of.

I'll have a hysterectomy in a heart beat if it means no more Panic/Anxiety, but i doubt it. Please let me know if you have any evidence, would love it to be true!

This has actually crossed my mind many times. My grandmother suffered anxiety and panic disorder from her late 20s until she went through menopause. She said after menopause, she felt incredible and has never had any anxiety problems. I know that a major contributor to my anxiety is hormones. The day I ovulate I usually have the worst panic attack, from then until the first day of my period, I feel on edge, get panic attacks, dizziness, all sorts of symptoms, then after that first day, I feel completely better and usually don't have any problems until I ovulate again. So, half the time I feel good. We have tried BC in the past with no luck, it actually made my migraines worse. I am having an IUD put back in in August, which last time stopped my cycle completely and made me feel better. I am hoping it works again.

I wonder when I was pregnant with my son . I had no anxiety just little ones that everyone has. A couple months after he was born it all came back... Maybe it has to do with hormones..

Panic attacks are cause by an increase in adrealine that rushes through us that is why they come on so fast and last a only shrot time. It is the symptoms we have that linger because they scare us. I hope that if you do need hysterectomy this helps you. God Bless

I suffer with panic attacks and have since a teenager. My mother yesterday said she did too until she had a hysterectomy. I'm almost 30 and she just now tells me this information! I think I'm looking into this option now.

I had a hysterectomy 20 years ago and it was life changing in that I no longer had a week of PMS and a week of feeling terrible while I had my period. So half of the month I was a hormonal wreck. That did improve those symptoms, but unfortunately I still have my mood disorder and panic attacks at times. It was life changing but it was not a fix all.

Yeah. I mean, men have panic attacks and they don't even have a uterus to remove. I'm sure it helps in the short term, but that's a drastic step.
