I call that irresponsible planning on behalf of the practice. If they knew the providers were leaving, the patients should have been given adequate notice so refills could be planned accordingly.
Too bad you have to go through the intake process all over again at the new office. Maybe the trick is to drive the patients crazy enough to ensure repeat business. JUST KIDDING! :)

It makes me angry that people who are supposed to care for us - or at least be our partners in health - can be so dismissive and irresponsible.
Good for you for standing up for yourself. It's disappointing and also scary when doctors do that.
The letter outlined that after that date, they had no obligation to acknowledge refills, etc., and that extended to any medications that a patient would need to "taper off "of.
In my situation, I was told to wait on paying my bill because they wanted to refile claims with my new insurance, so it wasn't me being negligent, just miscommunication.
It makes me wonder if patients with other kinds of illnesses receive similar treatment?? Kinda makes you wonder.
