Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
I work from home but make myself go somewhere and be around a lot of people [ the gym, a shopping mall ,etc] for at least an hour a day. It is easy to develop agoraphobia where its difficult to leave home because you fear you will have a panic attack in front of others.I force myself to go out so I dont become a prisoner in my on home.
I have an office job. My supervisor is aware of my anxiety. My job requires me to also be out in the field. I've been doing my job for the last 10 years. It's sad that the job requirements have become more difficult due to my generalized anxiety.
There was a news anchor who had an attack on air and he talked about how ridiculous he looked. I watched it and it looked like the teleprompter stopped. But he didn't look nuts or out of control. He just FELT that way.
But anxiety is a condition it's important to respect. Getting plenty of rest, making sure you're well hydrated, eating a healthy diet (hunger can be a trigger as can sugar, caffeine and other stimulants), etc.
Meditating and exercise can help - and it's important to do that every day even if you're not feeling anxious.
With work, I tend to do most of my work from home. I can handle a couple stressors at a time but I need to balance my life. And everyone has different stressors. Some folks feel stressed by time of day - early mornings are more anxiety provoking than evenings for example. Weather may also contribute - maybe you're fine when it's sunny but snow makes you anxious. There are a lot of factors and it's about figuring out what you can work with and when you need a break.
Working from home can be good but it's also important to have some social interaction. And not having pressuring deadlines is helpful.
I had to stop working :(..after 19 years at one place (which has caused me more anxiety).
I don't know how everyone works from home? But...I couldn't anyway because of my Carpal Tunnel.
I never believed I would have agoraphobia...but Bontemps is right...it has developed since I have been home for a year.
I think you would be better off...getting medicated correctly and trying to find an out of home job.
