Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

Hello Everyone,
So a question to you all. What are your body's signs of anxiety, or things that happen to you during an anxiety episode/panic attack. Have any of you noticed that you've had the same bodily responses to anxiety? Or have any of you developed new ones? I ask because last night at around 3am, I woke up due to anxiety, and this time while I did have the bodily responses that I am used to seeing, I found that I also felt very very nauseous. I've never had nausea as part of my anxiety. So I think it's new?
Usually for me the way I know my anxiety is acting up or that I am going to have a panic attack is that my index finger and my pinky finger on my left side start going a little numb or tingly(yes I did go to the doctor and had them run some tests and they said that everything came back clear) I also start feeling my heart rate pick up. I believe the numbness in my fingers happens because the muscles on my shoulder tense up when I'm starting to have anxiety.

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

First, I hope everyone is doing well, and continuing to fight that good fight! Keep up the great work on yourselves; I'm rooting for all of you!So, I started doing therapy at the beginning of the year, when I was in my most depressed state, but with my therapist, I made big changes and steps in the right direction. But, over a month ago, she couldn't take my insurance anymore, and I had to stop...
A few decades later, loss of appetite is my current first reliable sign, but some times I can catch it even earlier with the first ragged breath. Regulating my breath and addressing the anxiety at this stage saves me the drama of a very long and psychotic daisy-chain. Over the course of that very long journey, I have come to believe that anxiety affects most all of my body parts and processes, whether I am aware of it, or not.
But what I do notice when I'm going through a phase of anxiety happens at night while I'm sleeping, because I don't wake up when I should and I wet the bed more frequently.
1. Sick to my stomach
2. Heavy breathing.
3. Not wanting to eat.
4. Scared--especially when I wake-up.
5. Headaches
6. Nausea
7. Feel cold
8. Don't want to try anything new or different.
9. Time accelerates.
10. Irritation.
11. Hard to concentrate.
Plus other things. Some may be due to depression too. Sometimes it is hard to separate.
I hope this helps. Peace be with you.
If it’s just what I call low grade anxiety, just sort of simmering underneath, it’s kind of like I want to jump out of my skin, almost like static in my body, and there’s a bit of that sense of dread.
For me if I remove myself from where ever I am, even just moving to another room, it can help me sort of reset.
It's really weird to think about how anxiety affects our bodies in different ways or how it presents itself. I think for me it hits more at night or when I am alone, but I'm still working around it. I've been under a lot of stress lately and yesterday was another breaking point.
In my apartment complex.. I've had wasps coming into my room via my AC unit (I'm like 95% sure because idk how else they could be getting in) and so maintenance in my building has been very good at coming in to spray, but they just keep coming back. So last night.. I made the decision to sleep on the couch, but I was very upset because I've been under a lot of stress due to school, internship, not seeing my family in a long time since the semester started, and just generally wanting to get graduation over with already.
But yeah, for me its the numbness of finger, heart palpitations, irritability, body tension, and sometimes loss of appetite. I haven't experienced the nausea again.
I've talked to people around me about the way I've been feeling and most of the seen to say the same thing "you're feeling this way because of school and once it's over it'll calm down." Yeah it will, but like.... I am a person with anxiety that comes and goes no matter what type of thing I'm living through, but it comes more often when I am under a lot of stress. (A.k.a School time),
I've tried looking up therapists and trying to find one in my area at home once I graduate, so that I can begin the process again of dealing with my anxiety, but it's been hard because some are not accepting new clients, and I'm not entirely sure if I need a referral from my doctor.
Anyways, thank you all for your comments. I found new ways of perhaps helping me through panic attacks or general anxiety that I will try out and see if it works out.
