I got through my GAD years with counselling, with a bit of medication, and with realising that my life wasn't working. I had to make some changes in my life to lower my stress levels in general, and then I had to go through the time it took to have effect, without changing anything; because backlogs of stress still take their own time to resolve.
Generalised anxiety disorder has been in my experience a situation where you have so much stress that everything is the straw that breaks the camel's back. Everything sends you over into the red zone. So not only do you have to look at the big 80/20 (reduce 80% of your stress by solving 20% of your problems) but you also have to look at those little things too, the little stressors.
Look at the way you live, even how tidy the house is can have an impact on me.
Get a counsellor if you can, and work out where the stress is coming from. When it's this bad it's hard to tell which issue to pick first and a counsellor can help you direct yourself and maintain that direction.
