Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

Hello everyone.. it's been about 5 months since my last life update on here.. wow it's been a while.
Well.. Umm I'm basically going 7 months on 50mg of Zoloft/Sertraline. I think the medication has been working for me. I've noticed some changes in my moods, and have felt a lot better and more active. I also am graduating with a Master's degree in a couple of weeks and also recently started a job in my field. Things have been alright for the most part. All be it.. like a couple of scuffles here and there.
I got 2 of my wisdom teeth taken out back in November and well.. my experience went really bad. I had 2 panic attacks throughout the procedure and the dentist wasn't really like.. worried? Or more so.. basically my experience went really bad. And so I still have my other 2 wisdom teeth but they are also starting to let me know that they need to come out.. So theres that. I'm anxious about getting those out and it being anlther negative experience.. however I next time I'm advocating for myself to be put under while I go through the procedure. But yeah...
I am also coming into some conflicts with my S.O. in terms of how we discuss/have disagreements. Mainly because sometimes the way they speak to me when I bring something up goes along the lines of "here we go again" "it's always something with you" and also the fact that theres this constant ask from them of "Whats wrong?" or "Why are you sad?" when there is nothing wrong or nothing making me sad. And even when there is.. sometimes I have a hard time coming up with the words to express what I am feeling. And while I try to put together the words, they get frustrated with me, which then like has me in this bubble of "Well what do I say now?" And well.. yeah. On top of that, well we use more of "You" in our discussions which brings on this "accusational" type of environment. I've brought it up to them that I may want to go to couples counseling so that we can work through these sorts of disagreements or situations and also learn other tools for these sorts of situations. They have expressed to me that they'd rather not go to couples counciling yet, that they'd like to try alternatives such as self help books, or relationship books, etc. I'm not sure what to make of this.. and it worries me.
Other than that.. things have been okay.
I hope you all are getting through whatever life is throwing at you all.

that business of sharing my psychotic yaddah blahs with my significant other is an ongoing process for me, as well. 43 years and still doing the egg shell waltz. . . the good news is that we are learning new steps to the dance with each go-round.
maintaining a diverse, independent support network is my own most critical piece of avoiding the egg shell waltz with the love of my life. it takes a village to heal and expecting the love of my life to do the work of an entire village is not a very loving expression. within my support village, i have ample opportunity to express and validate my psycho snot knots without over-working the love of my life. in addition, the more diverse support helps me to find solutions that are not available on the single-source support system.
but that is me and every case is unique. . .
continued support while you sort your own.
welcome back.
I’m sorry things are challenging with your significant other. I would want to couples therapy too. It would be really important to me or I would talk about it with my therapist. You deserve good things and your successes recently are so great!! Congratulations!!!
Here's what I'm going to share, to give you insight on exactly how difficult it is to get past the "what's wrong?" refrain and "you're sad" refrain. I stopped responding to either of those statements.
Silence is golden when they use the usual response (and as mentioned by you, do not want couples therapy, rather use workbooks, etc...). They are responsible for what they say, do, act, react, respond, and behave. You are responsible for what you say, do, act, react, respond, and behave.
Be prepared for it to get worse and choose what you want the end result to be. Once I did that, our conversations started changing in the better direction.
Again, awesome to see how far you've brought your well-being to better and that you're accomplishing what makes you "YOU"!
I don't like it when people disdain me by saying negative or hurtful things like "you are too sensitive" or "who cares about how you feel". I hope your SO isn't as disdainful of you as they sound. I hope when they ask you "what is wrong" that they are being kind and gentle rather than them being angry when they ask. Being disdained makes me angry inside, so often I push back and then an argument starts. The disdainful one isn't going to admit being mean spirited and disdainful, they like to blame the victim. It is our fault, not theirs. I stuffed that feeling of anger for a long time with a former spouse.
Remember, you have to take care of yourself first. If you don't, no one else will. Keep your focus on yourself and your emotional wellness.
