If you surf around the site to find ways to gain support for your own emotional difficulties, you might trigger some surprising new conversations with your friend that will bolster confidence in place of making him/her feel like a DIY repair project. To have emotional difficulties of your own is to be human. We all have some*thing*.

I think it is awesome that you are an amazing friend that your friend feels comfortable enough to come to you for help. I know for me, I often just seek reassurance and validation when I reach out to a friend. I recommend that you lend an ear to listen (and make no judgments) to start out. You can also give them tips of healthy coping mechanisms- finding a hobby, exercising, hanging out with friends and family, praying (if that is something they believe in), and so much more.
