Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
Quick Background Wife of 30+ years had an exemplary work record, happy mother of 3, and generally satisfied with life, we decided to move near the beach during Covid, and the process was immensely stressful as we lost out on houses, there were bidding wars, and she could not decide, and a download spiral with temporary moves, hospitalization and treatment.
Right now, a large problem is change, getting to another house, or dr appts. Her sister believes there is a possible gynecological issue as a small issue was detected on one scan, doctors seem mildly concerned but her sister believes going to the gyno is critical, and she has called or emailed me at least 50 times outlining possible worst case scenarios, etc. In response, 3 appts have been scheduled and each time, my wife has not gone. Yesterday we had an appt, we suggested she take a shower, she didn't or couldn't and ultimately would not go. Her sister tried to calmly discuss the situation but basically said, either go or don't go, but this indecision is causing stress for everyone. Surprisingly, the gyno rescheduled for tomorrow morning.
Any suggestions about getting her to go.

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

When a person has had a perfectly beautiful image (looks, intelligence, career, success, great marriage, etc.) most of her life.....life at some point may become too stressful and she may no longer want to "adult."
I agree with mtd, give her space to find her way.
1. My wife avoids any discussion about difficult topics with him. So its hard because she is not opening up. He now says he avoids them.
2. He strongly believes she is not taking her medicine. I just learned of a problem, we were staying at my other son's house and he found pills, he was disturbed that the children could get them and also said that showed her noncompliance with medical advice. Note, previously, my wife was scrupulously adherent to doctors and when she had breast cancer, I might say do you need this scan, and she would insist on doing what the doctor ordered.
