Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. I have suffered GAD for my entire silver-streaked life. How I handle it is a bigger subject than I care to type in a single sitting.
What have you tried so far? What's up?
Writing it out is the important first step in finding your better balance.
Welcome to the anxiety board at DS.
how to retrain your brain helps some. But you have to work on it everyday.
Meditation, mindfulness practice. I use a lot of things. And accept that you

But.....my therapy sessions have long run out and the anxiety/panic is medication-resistant so I'm stuck with dealing with it myself. Somedays it's like trying to row up Niagara Falls in a canoe! It's a struggle for all of us on this board!
How do I handle it? I really try to stay away from the news and any TV shows that are sad, action-packed, dramatic, scary or would cause an adrenalin spike.
If it's a nice day, I go out and sit in the sun. There's something calming about its warmth.
I love The Anxiety Guy and his podcasts and videos. He's on FB and very interactiive with his followers.
I also have Nick Ortner's Tapping app. A lot of the stuff is free so that's what I use instead of paying for a subscription. Sometimes he will even open up some of the paid parts of it for a few wks.
Meditation makes me feel claustrophobic so I don't really get into that much even tho I know it's out there. But try it, it may work for you.
Overthinking is a big problem with anxiety sufferers and worrying about being judged by others. The Anxiety Guy addresses those and it has been helpful.
Good Luck. I sincerely hope you find something that works for you! It can be hunt and peck until you find it!
Grounding techniques, keeping busy, diving into a task, breathing techniques, reaching out for support, taking a walk, and medicine if necessary. All seem to help.
