Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
But we feel funny talking to certain people because u dont understand
It till u go thru it..and our stuff can look too small to them..i try to remind
Myself that everyone worries! All worry differently...we r all human
And make mistakes...i just started journalling on this site and on paper
Cuz no matter what type of friend u have i can still feel like i can only
Go so far with them and if i want to heal and get stronger i cant keep
It inside..it is a painful feeling alone tho.. and i used to hate it when they said to turn it off lol.
I have a close group of friends but I am unable to talk about it with anyone. I joined this group to find people who I can talk to.
Do you have a job? A daily routine?
My anxiety took over.its challenging but im doing it! I have a ruotine
Because im a mom if 3 so im pretty busy lol.
This is such a relief to read all of your words. It helps me feel not so alone.
I don't have a particular routine, but I do have a lot of safe, fun options so I don't feel as trapped as I once did.
But I feel like I'm just occupying myself and not doing anything meaningful so some days I just veg out. I'm not suicidal or anything. It's more just, "What the hell is the point?"
When I want to work or volunteer, I feel so much pressure about getting it right that I make myself and everyone else crazy. The physical issues and anxiety feed off each other and I wind up really sick.
TRIGGER WARNING: When I do talk with people who don't get anxiety I've told them to think about water boarding. Why is it considered torture? Why is it that they use it with only the worst of the worst?
Because it induces severe anxiety and that is considered about the cruelest thing they can do to a person. The most stoic, highly trained, hardest military people try it out and lasted fewer than 10 seconds!
People with anxiety (and I kind of hate that word because it sounds like no big deal) experience that every single time they have an attack. Sometimes several times a day or hour.
That seems to sort of make my point.
TRIGGER OVER.
But some feel I'm just being overly-dramatic. And sometimes people have said, "So you just don't want to go/work/do something. Why don't you just say that instead of making up an excuse like anxiety."
Actually had someone say that to me and years later they started having panic attacks and they called to apologize. They said they had NO idea what I was going through.
But it especially hurts when it's people close to me who assume I am just not trying hard enough. I'm trying every second but sometimes I get tired.
Thanks for listening. If you feel the same way, you know how valuable it is to have someone hear you!
A broken record sometimes...i used to keep it more inside also
But now if im not sharing im writing it down.(:
I always described it to people this way: it's like looking at the world from behind a veil or heavy glass. You feel separated and not part of anything because your deep feelings and struggles are so isolating.
