Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

When exactly did the pain start, how long does the pain last, what times of the day does the pain come, and all the symptoms of each time you have the pain?
If you did not report the pain in the hospital, then the epidural itself is not the cause of your pain. It may have brought the pain to the surface after it wore off.
Have you tried physical therapy, have you had your hips checked for proper alignment, have you tried exercise to help reduce the pain?
The reason I'm asking all these questions is to help you find the root cause of the pain.
I have hip and lower back pain, and the best relief is gentle exercise, as it helps build strength.
By journaling, you will find the pattern of what works, what makes it worse, and what feels better for you.
I had to add a banana to my daily food list to increase the potassium which reduces the muscle cramps and spasms, and add water to stay hydrated as mild dehydration will bring on cramps and spasms.
I hope this helps.
When I had my first child (vaginal birth), I had back pain that started very soon after. It was a super difficult delivery, epidural that was ineffective, and nurses that had me pushing from an uncomfy position.
Was your delivery at all difficult?
Do you have other physical symptoms along with the pain and anxiety?
I ask b/c my pain has spread over the past 6 years (to full body, and after tons of testing, I've been diagnosed with fibromyalgia. It is commonly begun after a traumatic incident- like a difficult delivery.
It was tough to get a diagnosis; you have to really stick with it to find out the source of any chronic pain- as you know!
Whatever your reason- sounds like neuropathy pain to me. I take Neurontin for this same type of thing, and it definitely helps for me. Might be worth a mention to your doc.
Physical therapy is also huge!
p.s. I also thought it was the epidural for a long time, since the pain followed the childbirth. I still think I was correct to ask around during my search (follow all clues!), but don't neglect other areas or suggestions as well.
Good luck, and let us know what you find out. Gentle Hugs!
Carrying a baby puts all kinds of pressure on your back and your hips and and all the ligaments. Our bodies are never the same afterward!
I have had 3 c-sections with epidurals and I have never had any problems like you have described. That doesn't mean it couldn't have affected you that way though. Is the pain in just the back of the legs or in the front as well? If its in the back only, it could be sciatic nerve related? I hope you get some answers!
