General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

My day started out just fine and I was not stressed or feeling anxious until about 2 hours ago. I went to the Post Office to mail a package and just getting out on the roads and out of the house causes me some degree of anxiety but I managed to survive the trip. Upon my arrival home though there was a knock on the door and it was the guys here to pressure wash the house. 1) They were supposed to have called before just showing up so that my husband could be home when the did this job as he knows how stressed out I am being home alone with strangers being around doing stuff to the house and 2) I can't get my dog to quit barking at the noises she is hearing from the pressure washer machine outside and the voices of the men talking. As soon as I got my wits about me and sat down at the computer the doorbell rang again - this time it was the Lawn Care Service coming to do the early Spring fertilizer and weed treatment to the yard. He ended up not being able to do it today as scheduled because he was afraid his hose would get tangled with house washers hose. I am so stressed over the noise of the spraying against the house, the noise from their compressor and the dog barking that I am going to lose my ever loving mind. I've tried to go sit and watch TV and turn it way up so that neither me nor the dog can hear the noise. I've been trying to do some deep breathing to try and calm down but I'm shaking and still feeling very anxious. It's going to be a very long day around here today.

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.

"don't be a hate hole" has been one of my recent mantras which seems to be escaping my mouth more and more often. it emerges when i am faced with the endless list of chores i would rather not deal with. insurance. head lice. bureaucracy. in-laws. the list goes on and on and on and on, ad infinitum.reality checks requested. am i making sense?"ever'thin they is but loving leaves a rust on your...

When I stay at my Dad's to look after the animals while he's away (which is quite a bit during Spring and summer), it can be really stressful with people coming and going. They have a cleaner that usually comes at some point during the week, but I never know when. Even the window cleaner coming makes me anxious! My Stepmum is forever ordering things off the internet, too, so I feel like I'm forever waiting for the post to arrive, or wondering who's going to knock on the door next (they have a quite a few visitors that come round unannounced. Some days are quiet, but the low-level anxiety is always there when I know someone might knock on the door, and can be really tiring. I don't answer the phone now while they're away, just to remove one of the anxiety triggers - they haven't complained about it so hopefully they're ok with that! It only really quietens down on that side, at night, but then the noise in the street from drunk people (the house is close to the city centre) can also make me feel edgy. I find watching TV with my headphones on really helps distract me from any outside noises, I would suggest that, but I'm not sure your dog would be too happy wearing them too ;-)
I hope your house returns to a calmer state very soon, and the men aren't too longing finishing their work. Hang in there :-)
In our house, no beer is offered UNTIL THE JOB IS DONE, and this has significantly improved the job getting done in a timely manner.
I think what happened is all your anxiety focused on this, and just added to the party level. Take time to relax with breathing, and that will give your anxiety levels a chance to reduce naturally.
