Before I joined the Military I took up Parachuting. You would think that would have helped, Nope!
My advice, either bring what you think will be the most interesting book you can find. Or.... watch the movie they have. You NEED something that will help distract you.
If by chance you really start to get massive anxiety. Get into the bathroom and wash your face, throw cold water in your face and back of your neck. You need to shock yourself (so to speak) back to reality. Use ice if you have to.
There's not much that can be done other than trying to figure out what you can do to get your mind off of the flight.
Crossword puzzles.... writing a journal, letter, Something!
Good luck.... Oh, Don't eat any sweets at all. From the night before through the flight. Alcohol is Bad too.
Try turkey before you fly. It makes you tired and relaxed.
To keep the panic away back then (this was about 30 years ago), I use to wear head phones with relaxation CD's playing. They eventually changed where I was not able to use them on take off or landing which is when I needed them most.
No sure if any other player (Ipod?) is allowed during take off and landing as I haven't flown in years.
How bout some search and circle books or crossword puzzles to help distract yourself.
Drink plenty of water to keep from getting dehydrated. No alcohol.....it will make things worse.
Good luck. I am keeping my own feet on the ground.
