Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
I deal everything on my own always have never really having anyone to turn to growing up where I had the be the parent & the child. As I've gotten older my anxiety has been getting worse there's so much I have to do so much I have on my plate tons expected of me but fit some reason I can't budge I simply can't move or won't move if I do all I wanna do is ball up in a knot & cry, it's just so hard & if I don't pull it together I'm gonna lose everything I've worked so hard for but it's almost as if I don't care anymore & I want to care I wanna be the responsible person I used to be, all of this is hard when you have no one and you've isolated yourself from everyone, I moved away from my family they're the ones who've hurt me most my mom & my sister are awful horrible human beings all I've ever wanted to do as a child was get away from all of the hurt abuse & neglect, I always knew I would leave them but I didn't think I would never return, thats was many years ago the last time I saw my mom she was a young woman now she's a very old lady my brothers & sister They ranged from kindergarten to the 3rd grade, my siblings are now well into their 30's & yes I've been gone every since, although I miss them I know they aren't good for me & I've accepted that for some reason I never felt safe around my family it's weird how I miss them but I feel safer away from them I know I said this earlier but they really are very bad people, I still help my mom financially with a few bills here & there mainly I pay her phone bill because I thought it'll be cool to get her an iPhone so we can keep in touch I purchased it 7years ago & have upgraded her device every year to the current model & do you know I haven't FaceTime with my mom in close to a year of not longer and haven't spoke to her on the phone in about 6months or more, I feel so sad for her because in addition to not have seen my Mother In 20+years I found out she's dealing with an illness that will eventually take her life soon so in addition to not seeing her for so long this is another reason I got iPhone so I could better connect with her, even in her old age and illness my mom still has it to where she can text me for anything & outta pity I'll send it to her, yet my siblings aren't worth a damn they've sat around their whole life never amounting to anything but being petty criminals in & out of the jail system as for my sister she's now over weight and a chain cigarette smoker, I've always wanted better for them that's why I helped mom so much through the years with sending money paying bills but with all that I've done being the only one to go to college I'm still not good enough

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...
At the end of the day, we sometimes only have ourselves. We only have one heart and one brain in each of us, but remember that you ARE worth a LOT. Try to learn how to love yourself and to know the value of yourself. You did things for your family when a lot of other people woud have walked away and turned a blind eye.
We are here for you on the forum. We're listening and we can be your shoulder.
Wishing you the best.
Take care of you first.
Let the past go. It is not in the moment thinking, and right now, you have to focus on in the moment.
You are doing the best you can with your mom. Cherish the special moments, and keep those thoughts to the front.
Best wishes making your way to the balance so you can find calm.
You are much stronger than you realize.
Early into my recovery from birth family dysfunction, I thought my fierce independence was a good thing. I'm not sure I could have survived my childhood without that fierce independence, but the older I get, the more complicated my life gets and the more that fierce independence keeps biting me in the ass. It takes a village to live a healthy life. Even the meanest of dictators maintains an advisory staff.
You are not alone, Seattle Girl. Welcome aboard.
When you say you miss them, I wonder if it's more like you miss having friends and a support system and people in your life who care about you??? There are lots of people out there who also long for friends. Can you find something you enjoy and plug into some type of club? Book club, sports team or gym, gardening club, join a church, take a college class...anything to get you out into the world where you'll meet people and find friends.
One of the best ways I've found to get out of my own head is to serve others. There are so many ways to volunteer with people (homeless, elderly, disabled, foster kids, poor) and animals (have you heard of fostering pets for deployed military??? how cool would that be?) We're not meant to do life alone, and if you have others in your life, your burden will lighten. And, it IS more blessed to give than to receive!
You are not defined by your past. You have worth simply because God made you and loves you. He wants to set you free from all the past pain and help you move forward into a healthy, vibrant life, and give you the peace that surpasses our understanding. He designed you with talents and gifts to share with the people around you, to bless and enrich their lives! You can call out to him at any time; he's always there and ready to respond.
