Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
Just eat slowly and remember that your fears are common and that everybody eats. Its uncommon to actually choke. And you wont have a heart attack from eating. Just dont eat too many fried foods. Eat healthier foods.
Good luck and hope I've helped at least a little!

My mon also is the one that is always pushing me to eat- she says the toast thing too:) it's almost like I have no hunger for any food even after days of hardly eating. I've started forcing my self to eat something small at least every few hours. It helps if I eat while doing something- reading the paper, watching tv, or even walking around the kitchen. I think it distracts me from my anexiety issues that I've been having with swallowing/ feeling like I'll choke. I also write down what I've eaten every day and then the next day I go over it and it helps to tell myself- "i ate this or that yesterday and I was fine- no choking or anything."
Hope this helps, but know that you're not alone in feeling this way- I guess anexiety has so many ways of physically effecting us. I notice too that it's easier for me to eat when I've taken an Ativan. This helps me to realize that it's a physical symptom of my anexiety and not some crazy health issue that I've convinced my self I have!!:)
Good luck!

I have to eat at certain times, (only because I basically "forced" my body to get used to eating that way) and if that don't happens, I feel like I just can't eat...
So then I really can't and I basically have to force it down my throat.
It's terrible, especially when I haven't ate in a while because then I get really nervous and an attack wants to happen and boy, it isn't pretty. :/
I'm afraid of eating stuff like rice or anything that crumbles because I'm afraid peices will scatter and slip down and choke me. I'm leery of meats too.
I'm currently having mostly liquids and few soft/mushy foods all throughout the day.
Perhaps we could all work together and figure out how to break this?
I'm so glad I'm not alone in this you guys!!!

~Laura
