Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

a psycho weird i picked up somewhere along my healing journey is channeling my over-reactions into dramatic exaggeration. it isn't the clerk's fault when i discover that some paper discrepency fouled up my tax payment, but the frustrations are enormous and toxic, nonetheless. the clerk doesn't deserve the punch in the nose my reflexes want to throw, but swallowing the toxins of frustration is not a healthy option, either. a 67 year old woman dramatizing a tantrum like a 2 year old is downright humorous while it channels my frustration outward instead of inward. the touch of humor often inspires others to vent their frustrations with me.
this psycho weird snuck up on me from i am not quite sure where, but i wonder more and more if dramatizing emotions to absurdity is a valid and effective channel worth polishing into a formal therapy tool.
am i making sense? thoughts?

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.
However, I was able to participate in drama class for a couple of years, which helped me channel those moments into constructive reactions visually so that I was calm in my reaction.
A friend wrote a column for several years, sharing those moments of strong reactions into exaggerated responses as a story.
You're on the right path that it can become an effective therapy tool.
yes, i can see drama class being good exposure for this theory. i've never participated in a drama class, but i have often wondered.
i believe my own inauguration in this psycho weird came from the parenting theory sets that matching a child's tone puts you on their level so that you can more easily lead them, by example, from unacceptable tones to more functional tones. here in my second parenting career, i swear by those theories with more confidence than ever and wish i had embraced them more solidly in my first parenting career. parenting by negotiation didn't work so well.
on my strictly personal evolution, when i channel my explosive emotions into humorously exaggerated drama, i vent my own toxic emotions while not taking them too seriously. when someone around me joins in the exaggerated drama, the results are quite hilarious and leave everyone laughing. the clerks are often the first ones to join in, delivering bad news is seldom their favorite part of their underpaid jobs. venting needed.
And, yes, venting is definitely needed.
I can picture the hilarious and laughing when you get the clerks to relax a bit-their jobs are difficult, having to share 'not so pleasant' news frequently.
the folks behind me awaiting their bad news often have fresh contributions for the comic relief, as well.
