Smells also can trigger anxiety, I've learned. This morning I was on a bus and the girl sitting next to me had an open bottle of rubbing alcohol (I have no idea why). The smell reminded me of a hospital and made me very anxious and also nauseas because it smelled gross.
I have always been very sensitive to sounds and scents, so that is probably why this stuff can make me panic. But I think it's fairly common, especially for people with anxiety.
I still get feelings of dread when my doorbell rings or the phone rings, but it doesn't make me panic at this point in my life. I really just don't like talking to people, so I am guessing that is why....
