Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
Discussion about Addiction, Overdose and Death****
This past friday night, my cousin overdosed on Heroin. I knew he was in bad shape but went to work anyway and just powered through it. I was scheduled to work all day Saturday and planned on doing so. I know personal things come up in everyone's life and honestly for me its a good distraction to focus on something else that's productive then to focus on negative aspects of life.
Halfway through my shift on Saturday I got the call...my cousin's OD (this was his third) had killed him. He was speedballing (mixing heroin and cocaine) and he had a brain anuresym and passed away. I was visibly upset at work and one of managers, we'll call him Kevin, asked me what was wrong. I told him some family stuff but that I was fine and would rather just stay busy at work. He called me into the office and asked me if I wanted to talk as I had mentioned to him Friday night that my cousin OD'd but he was still alive, just unconscious. I ended up confiding in him about what happened but told him I was fine to work. He insisted I go home and be with my family. So i went home and didn't want to eat dinner so I took a nap for a few hours. My best friend called me to check on me and when I told her I hadn't eaten she was like "come over and we'll get food" she refused to let me be alone (as i've struggled with addiction as well and she was concerned for my well being).
We ended up going out for dinner and some drinks which she posted to her snapchat and instagram. My other manager, we'll call him Steve saw the snapchats and is now accusing me of lying about my cousin DYING just so I could go out and drink with my friend. Steve also was going around at work telling people about my personal business because a coworker of mine who I did not share this information with, approached me and told me that Steve was pissed at me for "asking to leave work to go hang out with a friend"....even tho the other manager Kevin INSISTED that I leave after I put up a stink about wanting to stay at work.
Now I'm super anxious and afraid to go back to work. My aunt didn't want to publish an obituary due to how he passed so I really don't have any proof that he died. Not that I should have to prove it but this is just where my brain goes when I start spiraling :( My friend who I went out with knows I'm telling the truth cuz she was there with me when my mom called me and heard the conversation but still.
Sorry for such a long post its just been such a shitty weekend

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...
I wonder if you should write your own obituary for the sake of closure. No, you don't need proof, but grief is a complex process and finding the way to do so, openly and honestly is critical in Arf World. Your obituary doesn't need to be published for the sake of respecting your aunt's need for secrecy, but working your own grieving process while respecting hers can be balanced.
Just wondering. . .
Steadying support while you process, Trichster. "Shitty weekend" is a gross understatement.
To know that my boss thinks I would make something up like that just to get out of work is disgusting! If I wanted to night I off I could fake being sick or something but to say that a family member passed just to go out and drink is sickening. Like who would do something like that?
Your story broke my heart. I'm so sorry this has happened. Lots of hugs!
You did nothing wrong.
The boss who shared that information ... without getting verification from the boss who released you...there are several professional ways to resolve that. It depends on how your workplace handles this.
Being friends on social media often leads to situations being misinterpreted.
One answer to the going out is that if a friend (which is the case here) is helping, it's often out in public rather than home.
The boss who is making these comments needs to be handled in a professional and positive direction. The boss who sent you home should be present in the verbal connection, and this could be stopped with this connection.
This happened, and you can only make the best of it. Go to work, do your best, and work it out with the idea that social media exposed your boss's view of personal lives/professional lives, so you know to keep your private life off social media.
If a memorial service is being held, that is one way to present the death.
Best wishes.
