I have cut caffeine out completely in the last couple of months. I don't have an immediate effect like you described, but if I have caffeine at any point in that day, I found I was much more likely to have an anxiety attack that evening, and have trouble sleeping due to racing thoughts and unexplained feelings of fear. Once I cut it out, I have significantly fewer issues in that area. Good luck!

I have not had coffee in over a month. I hate not having it, but I hate what it does to me worse. I have had to cut caffeine out completely. It was hard at first, but you learn to deal with it. Good luck.

Coffee should come with a skull and crossbones on its label. One cup and I could see a gnat blink its eyes from 20 feet away. It heightens my senses and makes my thoughts race and I feel like I could jump out of my skin. Some of my worst panic attacks have been after drinking coffee. Now I stick to decaf.

It is all in your head. If yyou think coffee will make me anxious than it will. It is not the coffee. ( Unless you have a 32 oz cup..lol.

I only start feeling better in the Mornings after haveing my coffee. It seems to help me. I don't over do it I limit it to 2 cups. I tried to cut it out and felt worse. So go figure.

In the beginning of my anxiety, i still had a lot of coffee; anywhere from 3-12 cups a day. Nowadays i can't even have a sip without feeling anxious about it. It mskes me feel like lily described. I hate it! BUT i know a lot of that is psychosomatic on my part. I had the same reaction to decaf coffee bc i was told it wasnt actually decaf and i had thought it was. Then i saw the box and that it actually was decaf and i was better immediately. I thinkyou may be feeling psychosomatic symptoms too bc the effects of coffee, like alcohol, can't even be felt for 15-20 min.

So what i am thinkng is you could switch to half caffeinated or decaf if you don't feel comfortable drinking straight coffee.

You could try switching to decaf or herbal tea. Caffeine is a stimulant and its really bad for anxiety. I try to stay away from it but I am totally addicted to it. If you do not normally drink caffeine that can make the effects even worse. If you do drink it regularly try reducing the amount by a few ounces every few days so you do not have withdrawal symptoms. After 2 or 3 weeks you should be feeling different . Good Luck!

Yep, coffee does it for me too. I avoid the stuff, and am instead a juice and water drinker.

i try to watch how much coffee i drink, so as not to get that bouncing-off-the-walls feeling... but it does taste oh-so-good, and iced, too. gets me going in the morning...

I had to limit my coffee use to one cup a day. Because I would get extremely anxious after a lot of caffeine. I can't even drink a lot of coke because of this. Which really sucks because I love coffee and coke.

I too love coffee but not the way it makes me feel. It's crazy how much addicting caffeine can be! I'm trying to limit my coffee intake to one cup a day in the morning. It's hard but I'm hoping I'll notice less anxiety when I encounter stressful situations during the day at work.
