Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
im glad that you have all heard of dr weekes and are using her method. i bought her book and made progress however the progress then stopped as i gotmimpatient with time and thus frsutrated which of course excited my nervous system making the anxiety increase.
a lot of her method is about adding second fear. it is this which sustain the anxiety. the way to combat this is to float as when we float we stop adding fear and instead reach a neutral place where we no longer get anxious about being anxious and the physical symptoms and worry slowly dissipitate.
i recommend you guys take a look at this http://www.healing-anxiety.com/forum/viewforum.php?id=7

im very sorry for over simplifying it. ive suffered for over 12 years so believe me i know that it is extremely scary to suffer from anxiety with thoughts running through your head that really frighten and physical symptoms like shaking or a churning stomach constantly at times.
from my understand ing anxiety is about being caught in a nervous cycle of sufferring. we get a scary thought or physical symptom and this scares us. basically we get caught in a cycle of feeling fear adrenaline being released(causing physical symptoms etc and then more fear is released then more adrenaline is released etc etc it is a cycle of fear adrenaline fear.
we try to block our minds to the symptoms and/or thoughts because they scare us. but really they are harmless things it is our fear of them that causes the problem.
please dont make a judgement about the weekes method just from a short post that i wrote the only way to make up your mind about it would be to read one of her books.
all i can say is that i have been using her method for 3 years and i have been doing things that i thought i would never be able to do again. for eg be up town at feel relaxed where as before i would feel on edge/panicky etc. i can meet stranger and talk to them where as before i would panic and mumble my words as i would be so apprehensive about talking and feel so tense that the words would barely be able to come out of my mouth.
i also used to have terribly trouble sleeping but now i fall asleep within minutes as before i used to constantly think to myself, thinking stupid trivial thoughts. just for the sake of thinking.
the claire weekes method has answered all of my bewilderments. i now understand why i feel the way i do and i am coming out of it. i sed to take xanax and seroxat from the age of 15. i no longer need meds. im getting my life together and that is something that i thought would never be possible!
regards,
Jon
when we focus on something, our subconscious, which is always watching us and giving us what it interprets as what we want, gives us thoughts, ideas, images, and feelings so that we can have what we are focusing on.
by focusing on what we want, the subconscious switches gears, and focuses on giving us thoughts, ideas, images, and feelings that will make that happen.
it all makes perfect sense when one accepts the fact that we are each completely free to flourish boundlessly or suffer endlessly. we can be motivated by fear or motivated by faith. the wisest take time to reflect on the immense faith a long record of successes that they already have.
