Most antidepressants do carry some side-effects. I don't know about Celexa specifically. Did you get documentation with it from your pharmacist? You could also just call them - they know a LOT about meds and side effects.

Hello, I was on celexa for about a year. My Dr told me to take it in the morning because some people have trouble sleeping if taken at night. She also had me take only 10mg for the first week or two so my body had time to get used to the medicine, then take 20mg. However I prefer taking pills at night so I ignored her advice and just dealt with the not sleeping thing. It lasted for a week or so then I managed to get some rest. As for the side effects, as long as they're not severe just hang in there, it's your body's reaction to a new chemical being introduced and it should calm down. Celexa helped my anxiety a lot when I was at rock bottom, but after a year it was time to move on because It caused me to gain some weight and made me feel like a zombie. Either way...things will get better! :)

thanks for the advice. I read the documentation and those are possible side effects..just made me nervous. I am def going to split the pill in half tonight instead of taking the whole 20mg. So you think these side effects will eventually go away if i continue taking it?? I prefer taking meds are night as well but I hope I am able to sleep much better tonight. What are you taking now if your not on celexa anymore???

all those side effects went away for me after a few weeks of taking celexa.

In my experience, side effects have always gone away after a week or 2, or atleast become tolerable. I was feeling better so slowly weaned myself off the celexa. I currently only take lorazepam at night to calm my nerves and help with sleep. Soon I will wean off of that too, but thatwill be a long process.

have been taking this for 3 years approx-really does nothing at all for me but I take it anyway-I found loraxapam very effective for anxiety & took it for 22 years but could not get my new MD to renew it
