Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

Sorry I hate to bring it up as much as the next person but it's coming! So, I have 3 adult children. 2 live on their own. I originally thought of just giving them cash. Not alot. They asked for cash and then I was just kind of joking and said no cash is so impersonal - what do you want as gifts? Well now they have given me wish lists and now my anxiety and guilt are kicking in cause now I want to do both - cash and a nice gift. I love the holidays but the damn stress of it all is really stressing me out. I shouldn't have said anything. Now I am thinking maybe a little less cash and some small gifts? What do you do for Christmas with adult children?

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...
list and a little cash. Or one item from list and something you bake, cook, or
make, An album of pictures from their birth to now.
You are the parent.... what about what YOU want to do? Just having everyone over may be all that you truly want, and not so much all about the material aspect of the holidays.
This is for children growing up.
Second. Tradition changes as children grow up to be adults.
As you mentioned: cash, gift lists, and none of these really expresses the true meaning of gift-giving. Yes, they get what they want from your money spending, but no one really gets the value of giving and receiving gifts this way.
We stopped giving presents and went to stockings. Then we stopped doing stockings for the adults. As the children grow into teens, the gifts have gotten far more expensive, and they know what they are getting.
The matriarch of the family still gives cash to the families of growing children who live far away because they do not like the amount of money being spent on postage.
The local children are still being given gifts but the tradition is changing from big stockings to smaller stockings.
I agree with making a special unique gift like picture, bake, craft, and small amount of cash.
For adult children living at home, we went with a single gift under the tree.
As the parent, it's your choice, your decision, and more importantly, your value of the process of tradition.
We sat down to figure out a positive way to make the change easier for everyone.
There are four generations that get together, so doing any gift giving is expensive.
Best wishes.
