I am new to this site so this question may have all ready come up. I used Buspar years ago and it seemed to work for me or I was all ready getting better. I didn't have any side effects but Dr's are now saying it doesn't work. Can you tell me if it has worked for you or not.

I took it many years ago and it worked for me.
Do the doctors think it has some adverse side effect I wonder?

I am taking it now and it really helps. Took about 2 or 3 weeks to tell
much difference , so its not immediate relief like the Benzos. But also
not addictive and has almost no side effects.

If I ever committed to an antidepressant for anxiety it would be Buspar, that med is better than any garbage SSRI.

Thanks to this post I have been taking the generic Buspar for a little over two weeks. I have seen some improvement, but then again I am still taking alprazolam.

When I had an appointment for a unrelated issue I expressed to my Dr. I was cutting back on alprazolam as I did not like feeling so exhausted.....my max dose is 1.25mil divided, so you can see I am med sensitive. I am down to .75 a day and feel positive about it.

I was hesitant to try the Buspar this thread encouraged me.....so Thanks to anyone who sees this. I have dealt with anxiety too many years and alprazolam has been the only thing that helped....but I have never been comfortable with it. Now I am ready to slowly decrease it and increase the Buspar.

Ive been on Buspar for about 9 momths and I think its a great drug.
Very mild [if any ] side effects and effective even at a low dose.
I take 5mg 3X per day. The max dose is 60 mg daily , so plenty of room to increase if needed , but so far haven't needed to.

Thanks for the post. I, to, was given BuSpar-just recently to assist myKlonopin (clonazepam) with anxiety ..Doc felt my anxiety was keeping my BP med from lowering my pressure to 120/80 (it mostly reads 150/90). It seemed to me that with the BuSpar added my BP numbers were going higher. Not sure. I did not "feel" anything negative from it, though. Was taking 5mg once per day..but doc had prescribed 10mg twice a day. If she decided she is NOT ok with me stopping it after 10 days, I have the confidence (fro you all) to return to it. Still not clear on the original post as to why the docs say it does not work.

I've been on BuSpar for 14 years. By itself it was okay. My Panic disorder was extreme so I needed something more. I was put on Zoloft. Because I had already been on the BuSpar the doctor said to keep taking it because it is an enhancer. So instead of the normal 4 week wait the Zoloft plugged in faster for me.
