Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

Hello Everyone,
It has been a few months since I last updated you all. So I started medication (50mg Sertraline) back in September, I had a bit of a rollercoaster the first couple of weeks on it, but things have significantly improved because of it and a combination of therapy. However I am finding myself having more vivid dreams since starting on the medication (some weird dreams but nothing too bad so they don't quite bother me much, plus the benefits outweigh this). I have more good days than bad. I'm almost done with my first semester of my last year of my masters program (Hopefully graduating next year). But yeah everything seems to have calmed down in my life, just kind of navigating my relationship issues through therapy.
With my relationship, I'm finding that we both don't quite know how to argue or how to have discussions with each other, without it kind of becoming this like attack on one's character. And sometimes it kind of gets into kind of a serious conversation between us playing the blame game and talking about how we are going to change things, and then it sort of starts this sort of restart where we are good with each other and everything is like back at 0. I know this isn't quite the way I imagine it goes in most relationships, but again.. I'm not even sure how to go about having discussions with my partner when one of us messes up or such (if I make any sense). I brought it up to my therapist and well one of the options they suggested is maybe looking into couple's therapy, amongst other things. I'm not against it at all. I guess I'm just kind of in a bit of a jam of some sorts because I hate confrontation (working through this too friends, I promise) because I've always been the people pleaser and the one who cares more about others feelings than my own. But yeah.
Anyone relate to having weird dreams on sertraline? Also if anyone has any like first-hand experience in couples therapy, that would also be good.
I hope everyone is doing well.
Until next time,
Blue

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.
i don't have any experience with sertraline, but i have tons of experience with dreams becoming more vivid as i stop repressing particular memories and/or emotions. in my own herstory, the weird dreams are a vast improvement over the nightmares i get while i am repressing.
nor do i have experience with couples therapy. my partner of 42 years is still too stigmatically perfect to approach psychotherapy any further than sitting in psychiatric waiting rooms. however, we've come a long way in getting past that domestic tit-for-tat and blame-gaming. i started by recognizing when we were playing the games and refusing to participate. i still wonder if it would have been far more efficient to use a trained therapist, but i works with what is available.
Sertraline can allow dreams to change as you reset your natural balance.
Couples therapy is often not effective because one partner wants it and the other feels like they are being blamed for the problems. What we did in our therapy session was to reassess the approach to sensitive discussion topics.
It took several tries, and some wild moments to find a safe way to open up the sensitive topic. Rarely do we use this approach because hard and hurt feelings tend to show up unexpectedly later on.
I started writing in a private journal and keeping it safe as I worked through my feelings and then I adjusted the point of view to looking at it from someone else's view. It allowed me to see the pattern of words continuing.
Made some changes and we have moved through the challenges in a positive direction.
You're doing wonderful!
