i hope the pope doesn't sue me for co-opting one of his more sacred yaddah-blahs, but ? ? ? hit me with your best shot, popey-poo. . . yes, i am a heretic. . .
since inheriting my 3 orphans at my son's funeral. i have begun calling my gk's, "my foster kids" to avoid the saint grandma stereotypes that have served as harsh reminders of just how much my little ship of fools lost in that fatal car wreck while promoting heinously innaccurate stereotypes. love her or hate her, the grandma stereotyps are no more accurate than any other stereotype. life is not a two-dimensional proposition. stereotypes require a great deal of assumption to work. not even a devout barbie girl or her jock-itchy ken can be a shoe-in for any the cultural stereotypes. a former child prostitute as saint grandma? ? ? do you really expect me to be flattered or feel realistically supported?
on the more pragmatic end of calling my gk's, "foster children," grandparents have no automatic sway with school, doctors, etc. calling them foster children establishes that i have legal guardianship and am empowered to act on their behalf.
dunno what i'm reaching for here. . . just venting, i think.

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

one of my personal psychoticks is mistrust of compliments. cut to the chase, manipulator. whatcha buttering me up for this time? i've been plying therapy tools to take such compliments at face value and quit looking for the fine print, but. . . ya know, ya know. . . old habits die hard. sometimes ya just got to vent it out.
Beautification and heretic… two of my favorite words. I love what they represent, what they mean, and the duality. I think we all have a kind of duality. We aren’t just one thing that’s for sure. Sinner and saint sums me up for sure.
My mom had Alzheimer’s. I was her daughter in relationship but also both her medical and financial power of attorney, and referred to myself as her caregiver or power of attorney when advocating for her, whether it was with the social security office, her doctors, her bank, etc. So I think I get what you mean about leading with the term “foster children.”
I believe it’s an act of love doing so because when we are charged with protecting the most vulnerable, we have to set aside the familial part of ourselves. I mean I just wanted to be my mom’s daughter. But I had to set that part of me aside sometimes in order to be her fiercest advocate. I don’t know if that makes sense.
when my psychotherapy advanced far enough to get my damaged ass into a church building, i went to the most criticized of the bad boys. go big or get back. i was welcomed to come and question. i stayed to confirm. i kinda like the stability of long held process. seems to me the contemporary process changes doctrine quicker than they change websites.
anyhoo. . .
yup, i can see the advantage of stating legal standing before family standing for geriatric care, as well. i'm certainly not signing consent forms for a son who calls me, "toxic mom" and i hope an er attendant or bank clerk would not assume he loves me the way you loved your mother.
