Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

School is starting up next week for my two eldest foster kids. 3rd grade and Kindergarten. Baby Sis will be staying on the farm with me while her elder sibs go off to school. There is some debate on whether she should be in Day Care, but I am not ready to explore the changes which have gone down in the day care centers since the maskite invasion. We are having a hard time reaching our feelings on the new school year while we watch anxiously to see if the Powers that Be will allow the academic year to proceed outside the virtual box. If so, what new marshal laws and social distances will pop out from behind those masks? Are those lips moving?
Anybody else as confused as we are?

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

First, I hope everyone is doing well, and continuing to fight that good fight! Keep up the great work on yourselves; I'm rooting for all of you!So, I started doing therapy at the beginning of the year, when I was in my most depressed state, but with my therapist, I made big changes and steps in the right direction. But, over a month ago, she couldn't take my insurance anymore, and I had to stop...
Anyway, I tried to avoid sounding like a lecture, but I may not have succeeded there! ;) I just want to give you some comfort to know that day care aged kids can thrive and do fine with wearing a mask for all/most of the day. Ask your local center what they are doing - for us, they kids did not wear them at nap time, where they could maintain distance between the kids, and they only had classes of 10 kids (which was wonderfully small!!!). My sense is that "social distancing" is more of an individual bubble style comfort level these days, more than any mandated specific distance, and the general courtsey of giving anotehr person some space on teh sidewalk for example.....just giving a bit more than historically "usual".
I also found that day care in different areas do things a bit differently. You'll likely see that they require the teachers and kids wear masks all day when inside, that they have their own supplies and own spots at their tables, and masks may or may not be required when playing outside. You'll likely see that the class sizes are 10 kids or so, which is a wonderful change from the usual 16-20 for those 4-5 year olds! I hope that helps you feel a bit better about the consideration! I started my parenting journey more than 13 years ago and was reluctant, to say the least, to utilizing day care, but now I am a huge proponent and have seen the benefits of it for the children as actual preSCHOOL. They have so much fun and learn a ton, and when the day care teachers were good (we had some crummy ones) it helped remind me how to be an effective parent-teacher! :) I hope this helps you.
For now, I'm keeping the focus on the re-opening of the public schools. As chaotically masked and distant as they are this year, the information on the newest rules is more readily available, albeit diversely interpreted. I'll unravel the mysteries of masked and distant day care at a later date. Maybe. For now, there is quite allot Baby Sis can learn right here on the farm.
