General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
cough cough. No I don't feel ashamed of my seven years of anxiety. :D I'm in some ways kind of proud of it. Certainly relieved to know what it is, and have been able to start actually working on a solution to it. I do get a bit anxious about it tho. I do hope it ENDS sometime. :D
but I'm 1,000 times better than I was. And that's good. Far more in control, far stronger. Just, not perfect. Yet. Life's a journey. And for as long as I keep travelling in the right direction, I have a hope of getting to my destination.
I'm glad you're getting help shortly. Other people? won't be able to help in my experience. They can't understand the chemical burden. The whole 'shower scene out of psycho' when you open the mailbox or drive to the dairy type thing. They will want to say terrible things and give you teaspoons of cement. The methods they have used to get through life have probably involved a certain amount of derision. It'll be the only thing they've got to give. They love you, but it's a tough love.
You have to stop talking about it to anyone but co sufferers. You're just talking a foreign language to them. As to the other kids being all sorted out? Not likely. Not likely at all. I'd say at least 30% of them are in the same state you're in.

Additionally, your classmates aren't as together as they look. Somewhere along the line everyone experiences something(s) that have the potential to deeply effect us emotionally, physically and mentally. They'll have theirs too someday if they don't already.
It took a few years out of school to notice that so many other people have hurdles.
But I do agree, speaking to some people about anxiety is like speaking a foreign language to them...and that can make one feel alone when they aren't.
You aren't alone at all in this. <3
