I have been on citalopram for a couple months now my depression has went down quite a bit but my anxiety is about the same. I can leave the house and drive so I am making progress. I'm on 40 mgs is that to much to be taking. I have been having anxiety attacks lately and getting super angry. I never loss my cool but im wondering if this is normal. I'm starting a new job and really scared and worry im gonna not make it. I'm tired of anxiety holding me back in my life

I used to be on Citalopram 3-4 years ago. I was upped to 40 mg as well but then that dose had helped me and I was lowered to 20 mg and to 10 mg eventually. It took me about 2-2,5 months to feel OK again. If your dose is not helping you, you should consult your psychiatrista and see what he has to say. Do you take any benzo to help you out during attacks? Also has anything changed in your life since you started the medication that may make it normal for you to lose your temper?

Citalopram's effective for anxiety, but its not that great for depression. The anger comment leads me to believe you might need a change of meds from an SSRI to an SNRI like Effexor or Pristig. You see Citalopram only works on Serotonin, but an SNRI adjusts both Serotonin and Norepinephrine. Which should do wonders for the anger issue.

I take lorazopam when I get very anxious. Just frustrated with life right now. I compare myself to others and then I get down. I am starting a new job on Monday so I'm hoping this is the fresh start I need. Anxiety makes me feel like I can't live a normal life but I am still here.

Citalopram (celexa) did NOT help me with my anxiety. I would try escitalopram (lexapro). I started taking citalopram because I lost my insurance and escitalopram was $110 and citalopram was $5. Now, not only are there more manufacturers of escitalopram, but it can be purchased for as low as $11/month places. I think escitalopram for me is 100x more effective for anxiety than citalopram. Citalopram helped my depression, but not my anxiety.
