I don't know if I am just getting older or maybe my anxiety is causing my stomach issues . Recently I have been having more stomach issues like heartburn and indigestion etc. Can anxiety cause this ? I am currently 9 days off meds . I am no longer taking Zoloft and have 0.25 of Xanax but only as needed but haven't taken it yet .

Anxiety causes a long list of ails. GERD is serious. Your esophagus can get worn till it's see through..been there. Important to talk to your Dr. and let him/her recommend a drug. There are several OTC but they might give you a script for one that's not so your insurance can cover it. Not something to mess around with.

Constant belching was my biggest issue. I take the Prilosec first thing in the morning and it works pretty good for me.

I have issues with my stomach as well and they come and go. I was taking Nexium OTC for a while but have stopped. Good luck with the doctor, I hope you feel better.

I have gerd and ibs and I find alot of my issues are anxiety and stress related. I went to the gastro doctor and she put me on pantoprazol...best thing ever no more heartburn, no more burps which I hated btw, I really miss it...but I don't have insurance anymore...so now I try breathing through the pain with some deep breath excersizes and its not perfect but it helps. Also I stay away for bell peppers and tomato sauces and citrus because it just make the gerd worse.

I would get wound up on the anxiety, which would get my stomach churning, which would make me worry more that something was wrong. One of the best pieces of advice someone gave me once was to take a famatodine while having the anxiety attack. Calms the gerd symptoms which helped me get the anxiety under control.
