Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

This last time I visited my psychiatrist he recommended I try a new ADHD medication. Ritalin..he still to this day swears that I don't need anti-anxiety or depression medications and I can control this on my own..Everytime I meet with him I feel good and ready to conquer..and now I feel back at square one! I take 10mg of prozac for serotonin and I take 10mg of ritalin (generic) daily to help with my anxiety...it's still not working..I'm able to focus more..there is no doubt I don't have some attention disorder..but I can't seem to shake this!
I've been dry heaving every morning for two weeks..trying to get used to these medications and give them a reasonable time to "kick in"..I don't drink..do drugs..smoke cigs or ANYTHING...My appetite is nearly nothing now and all I can manage to do is drink water..not even sleeping right. I don't even work out anymore..
The reason I'm not taking too high of a dose is because I really don't want to be medicated to function..My doctor seems dead set on this guy Sydney Banks and that I can control it all..and I just feel like I can't...I try so damn hard and I just want to be myself again.
Anyone have any positive comments for me? Words of hope or wisdom? I'm finding it harder and harder to keep pushing forward before I feel like collapsing from being exhausted and anxious..

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.
What you think you are saying about your physical and mental and emotional symptoms may not be what the doctor is hearing or observing.
It took me a long time to be placed on zoloft which provides daily stability for the depression I cope with ..., and I'm in cognitive behavior therapy treatment to manage the anxiety levels that add to the party.
Ritalin can give you focus, what are you focusing on, in the moment? I have to ask myself each time I face anxiety head-on, what am I doing?
Anxiety can be triggered by medical conditions (and when this happens, it can take a lot of time to figure out what is the worst symptom to fix first)...and so take the time to just put everything to paper, to see if you can find the pattern.
Best wishes, you are not alone.
Sydney Banks? Your Dr. may be dead set on this guy...but more importantly-how do you feel about it?--spirituality is pretty personal and just because something works for your Dr-doesn't mean it is going to work for you--I would think you should find your own path spiritually--whatever calls to you! I really, really believe in a spiritual path to health, but there is so much out there-you have to find your own way....I'm not sure your psychiatrist should be suggesting a specific spiritual path--I think he should support your finding one that will best suit you and your needs.
