Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. I did feel this way when I was depressed.
I used to sleep a lot during the day if I could, and being depressed for some of that time made me want to sleep more. Sleep is quite a common reaction to depression - anti dep Meds can sometimes help with that although some anti dep meds have a tendancy to make you sleepy.
I now suffer from anxiety but I don't think I'm depressed any more or need the sleep like I used to. My current medication makes me want to sleep more, but I welcome that especially as I sleep during the night.
I would avoid sleeping in the day if it interferes with normal waking life, most people are awake during the day and I think sleeping away the day might lead to further isolation and anxiety.
I don't like to sleep in the day any more because I feel I would sleep less well during the night. Sometimes it feels like I could do with a day time nap but I usually overcome it.
That said I don't think there is any harm in day sleeping, for a nap/40 winks yes, but not in exchange for a night time sleep.
I take Ativan in the morning which helps but not immediately. Sometimes just sitting down, breathing deeply, and trying to talk myself through it takes the edge off. Therapy can be useful.
