The best thing in the world to do is find things to keep yourself busy. What do you like to do? Writing, going for a walk, talking to friends, crossword puzzles, any things that will keep your mind off the anxiety!

I have learned to stop fighting anxiety because it's counterproductive and frustrating to do so. Ignoring your thoughts doesn't really work. It's like trying to ignore the kid who's starving for attention. Instead, try to answer the questions and play out the thoughts that pop into your head.
So, what if I have a panic attack while driving today? Then, I will pull into a parking lot and do some diaphragm breathing exercises and self hypnosis. If that doesn't work, I will take a Xanax. I've had panic attacks while driving before and I got through it and I will get through this.
Anyways, it's what I do. I answer the questions and play out the thoughts in my head. It works for me.
Have to say, even the use of the WORD "anxiety" in your vocabulary means you're THINKING about anxiety! Y'know, The Secret, the Law of Attraction, the Law of Creation, and all that jazz.
I prefer to use words like "relaxation", "comfort", "warmth", "soothing"...and these become ingrained in my psyche.
