I'm new here and from what I can tell, a lot of you are doing self help for anxiety. I've had anxiety for 30+ years. I've been to numerous therapists, psychiatrists, group sessions ...and I still need the help of medications. I have been on klonapin for 10+ years as well as effexor. I've noticed I've been weepy, and when I wake up at night I think of all things doom and gloom. I spoke to my doctor and she is going to wean me off effextor and try Abilify for me. Does anyone here take meds or am I in the wrong group?? I'm so nervous about switching meds. I was diagnosed with GAD several years ago. I do have a lot going on..I lost my mom 3 years ago..I lost my stepdaughter one year ago to stage 4 breast cancer...shortly after that I myself was diagnosed with Non Hodgkins Lymphoma, went through gruelling chemo, broke my foot in 3 places after I completed cancer treatments...my sister estranged herself from me 3 months ago...and we're in the middle of a pandemic...ugh...I know things are hard on everyone right now. But wondering if anyone has taken Abilify. I worry about side effects as I can't handle too much of anything else right now. Thank you.

There are side effects with most medicines and Abilify is no different.
I guess a dry mouth is one most notable side effect and tiredness, which can be combated with exercise.
But read the advice slip in the medicine package and keep a side effect journal to help you and your doctor sort out the correct dosage.
