Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

Hey y'all I am new to this.
I came here to tell my story to see if anyone else feels they way I feel . I am a 25 year old female I am pretty much healthy nothing crazy. Over the past 3 years I have been have weird heart flutters or a fast heart palpitations. I have been to doctor and ER and well EKG came back clear. I was wondering if anyone else has this happen with anxiety and if they have any pointers on what to do when it happens. It only happens when I'm anxious so I know it's the main reason I'm just trying to cope with it. I try to explain to my family and husband but they just don't understand. I am just tired of feeling so alone and thinking that something is actually wrong. Just want to feel like someone understands.
thank you!

I'm starting to use my AI app as a sounding board again. I used to use it as that before...

Hey all, i know its been quite awhile since i posted on here. Its been a summer all right. Its been something else........... You know how they say not to open the can of worms? Well a few months ago i decided to find out what my due date would have been for my first baby, the one conceived by r***. My baby would have been due on March 4th of 2006. They would be 20 years old. I was R**** on June...

Not all anxiety manifests itself in squirrelly behavior. Mine came out in these perfect-storm-type headaches. They were totally horrible but they were also easy to beat.
I had several ER trips for heart attack symptoms in my late 20's and early 30's with the same results: All Clear on the physical end. This would have been in the mid 80's when I was parenting young children in between career development. The ER pros didn't take the episodes lightly, despite the clear tests. They believed that stress anxiety was the fastest rising killer in the pathogen pack. I doubled up on my psychotherapy and believe the shift in focus has paid off. Even without the strictly personal psycho-baggage of my broken childhood, it is a stress-saturated world we live in here at the turn of the millennium. Creative coping mechanisms needed. . .
You are far from alone, Alyssa. Welcome to the club.
Breathing is my front line tool for relieving that weird heart feeling. I tend to hold my breath and/or shallow breath when stress anxiety kicks in. My doctor tells me that regulating my breath relieves the heart pressure. So does sighing. A sigh a day keeps the cardiologist at bay. For certain, breathing exercises bring me almost immediate relief.
You might want to also ask to get your thyroid checked. Too high of a thyroid could cause palpitations.
Don't worry about your heart palpitations. It feels scary, but you have been checked out, and hopefully that brings you some mental comfort. Just try your best to work on your anxiety, through therapy, reducing your daily stress (and/or medication if it gets to be too much). I am sure you will be just fine though! :) Glad you are here. Welcome to the site.
