Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
Hi all,
My name is Julia, this is my first post. My boyfriend left for the military in Sept of 2020. I was super happy for the both of us to be working on our careers. I had to stay home due to grad school. after about 2 months of him being away, I started crying every day. My anxiety took over. I was not eating or sleeping. Not happy. I was able to finish out my semester but as soon as that was over, I was back in bed, crying and losing all control of my life. I am currently seeing a therapist as well as a psychiatrist who has prescribed me a low dosage of Xanax. I was diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder (which I knew I always had), Adjustment disorder, and panic disorder. I am back to eating normally and sleeping good so I do not believe I am severely depressed but I struggle at times.
I struggle with constant negative thoughts. Mostly the same intrusive thoughts. I have passive suicidal thoughts. My psych told me these thoughts are obsessive because I am fearing the thought, which is true. I do not want to even think about suicide because that is not what I want to happen. I know I have a bright future but my anxiety makes me worry about everything and it gets worse when I am not with my boyfriend. We have been together for almost three years. We went to different colleges and I was fine with it but I guess the pandemic or just not having him here with me every day makes me struggle to find what I'm passionate about again. I went to California (where he is stationed) last week for 10 days and it was great. BUT I noticed my thoughts still came, I was able to manage most days because he was there with me but as the time got closer to leave and go back to NY my thoughts got heavy and my depression sat in. He now understands what I am going through and checks on me whenever he gets the chance to so that's nice but 2 days back in NY and I'm miserable. I'm tired and sad. I wake up with anxiety and it makes me question if I should try to go on anti-anxiety/depression meds but course I'm scared of side effects. I try meditating, exercising, yoga so far I just need help to change my mindset. Please if you have any tips or can relate lmk.

Lately I've been feeling scared and full of anxiety. I recently found a lump under my nipple. I hurt my back too. I'm in the process of moving. I'm run down. Everything is hard

Just wanted to give a thank you to Mid, Arfie, Malibumark, Greeneyes, Mlro, Girlincalif, and Suncloudjd! You all always have such helpful tips and advice, but I always forget to write on my posts when I see you post, lol. I would lose my head if it wasn't attached to my body, lol. Thank you all so much! I'm starting to use my AI app as a sounding board again. I used to use it as that before...

You've taken the important first step in writing it out.
Now, you choose what you want to think about. Feelings, thoughts, emotions, words, and pick the ones that give you hope, joy, and acceptance of the moment as it is.
Military life is not the same as civilian life. It requires the partner to be independent, assertive, balanced, and able to manage stress in a calm, balanced way. Write in a journal daily to help you sort through everything. This is a learning experience, and you are stronger than you realize!
You can do this!
I opine that you have already created an important link with this very post. A safe place to vent and sort my anxieties before they have time to escalate is my most valuable anxiety management tool. It also helps immeasurably to be reassured that I am not alone in the struggle.
Hope the DS link helps you as much as it has helped me. Welcome aboard. You are not alone. Hope you find stabilizing companionship here.
