Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. Do you get that jolt just as you’re about to fall asleep?
You’re not alone my friend.
Yup, I get those jolts, though mine are not confined to sleep. I call them, "Panic Attacks" and subscribe to the theory that they are caused by an infusion of stress hormones from my "lizard brain." These hormones are quite potent and physical and need to be purged from my system before I will be able to lose the jitters attached, etc. Several of my pros have claimed that stress hormones are similar to, more potent and addicting than methamphetamines. I consider myself, "A recovering chaos junkie" as a result of having experienced the phenom since childhood.
A vigorous physical workout is my primary tool for purging those hormones from my system before I set to work on finding and remediating the psycho snot knot which is triggering the hormone infusion. Here in the bizarre New Normal of Coronaville, there is not a shortage of anxiety triggers for the phenom. I also subscribe to the theory that anxiety is far more creatively contagious than any virus.
But that is me and every case is unique. Gentle support while you find what ^it^ is for you. Keep venting. Your answers are in there.
Welcome aboard.
i too get jolted awake.Just as i am about to fall asleep a worry or fear snaps my eyes open and i start to ruminate about it and become panicky.Sleep is about impossible then.
i am so sorry you are going through this.
You are not alone.
That 'jerk' is a common sensation when the body and brain come to rest, and the anxiety is coming to rest.
Sip some water and relax breathing.
It goes away after a few minutes of focusing on something else.
