If it was going to kill you you'd be dead. Hang onto that thought.
The guy at the ER after I'd been on the monitor for an hour told me that palpitations aren't your heart doing anything different. They're just you noticing your heart doing what it always does.
This makes sense. You're hearing your heart when you're relaxing. When you've got the mental space to notice it. That's what happened to me too. It's like tinnitis - but with heartbeats. You're suddenly super tuned in.
But it hasn't killed you.

I remember as a girl I would get serious nose bleeds, or blood noses as we called them then. I would wonder if I would bleed to death.
Do you know what my mum did? She told me to bleed into a cup. She said I had 14 cups of blood in me. And to let her know when I'd lost 4.
Well I never did get to 4. I got to 1/2 a cup once, but I never did get to 4.
What we think our bodies are going through isn't always the case. Sometimes we have to sit there and say "I don't think I'm going to die. And I'm not going to A&E this time." And then don't go. Challenge your anxiety.
